For teaching literature that is set in Madrid -- in particular early- to mid- 20th century literature, this book is "imprescindible" -- very necessary. I found that it was useful for teaching vanguard prose, when used in conjunction with video clips of the Madrid of the 1920s (there's a film clip on youtube of Spain's first "talkie" that complemented the book very nicely.)

The students found the book very useful, well-written, and helpful in their studies.
