Julie Evans' autobiography is raw and honest. She was born to parents old enough to be her grandparents. Her two sisters could have been her mother. So her life didn't start out in a very traditional fashion. Her parents both died while she was still in her teens and so she was on her own. Think about when you were a teenager. A teenager without guidance doesn't always make good choices. It's Julie's story, but also a story of all the different places she lived and the time she lived in. A difficult read for me, but I have great admiration for the author in turning her life around. I loved the chapters about her and the animals she helped. I would have liked more of that.

First off, I’d like to start off by saying, that this is my first time ever reading a memoir and I’m genuinely happy that this book was my first. The author has kept me on the top of my toes with the journey of her life. It was honestly a pleasure to read this story.

The book was very interesting. I did get a little frustrated with her choices. I am not an addict and maybe that is why I felt this way. I would like to hear more of the animal rescue part of her life.
