I thought this would be about starting a business generally, but it was mostly about online sales techniques. You know that super annoying relentless push from online course sellers if you make the mistake of getting on their mailing list? This guy invented it. I don't doubt that these strategies work, and there's material worth revisiting here if I ever want to launch a product, but I wish everyone else would chill with this stuff.

Pretty well written for this sort of thing. An easy, show more not-too-boring read that makes its points well. show less
While not exactly what I needed, this book did provide me with some great ideas and examples. I think if you have a service to market, however, you could do worse. His suggestions seem really simple and possible, but he at least admits to some failures and some duds. The tone is one of cheerleading, but he believes, so what else would he sound like. All in all, a good business book.
A good book on learning the launch funnel. Not a 4 star book, I’ve given 4 stars to books more packed with actionable advice (we are reading business non-fiction right?…right?) and definitely not a 2 star book, the author does present a good framework with examples.

That being said, 2 stars could’ve been won if:
* The author didn’t treat the book as a funnel for his workshops
* The author didn’t feel to urge to make the book fiction narrative by filling it to the brim with show more story-telling. Look, I know, I understand that the human brain is a narrative machine, but given the fact that the author was in control, he missed a lot of pacing opportunities, like instead of long-winded stories no one asked for, create suspense and then deliver those stories, maybe in shorter chunks;
* When a reader buys a book such as “Launch” the reader expects instructions to actually launch something. This book partially does that, the rest is just filler. Also the last chapters were general life advice that was not asked for, needed or original. The author should make an effort in understanding that he’s not the only one who read Napoleon Hill;
* Targetted specifically for the information business. So if you can break your offering in multiple chunks, offer some parts in the launch process, this book is for you.

In short, a decent read.

I know quite a few people who have successfully implemented Jeff Walker's Product Launch Formula, so I was looking forward to understanding the secrets behind the process. I think the book lays the PLF process out clearly enough that you could put it into place with just this knowledge. However, you will need some understanding of technology and general marketing principles. There's also a lot of solid advice on entrepreneurship and creating a life you love. Good balance between specifics show more and general advice. show less
