A terrific how-to. The large size makes it easy to follow the routines. A plus is the focus themes that allow you to target your particular goal. Clear and well-written. Excellent pictures and diagrams.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. The book is written by experts in exercise and sports. The information is comprehensive in application to the three areas of speed, agility, and quickness. The example exercises are numerous and sport specific programs are potentially useful. The book introduces terms such as carioca and bear crawl before they are explained. Many of the exercises are basically the same as others with minimal variation. It seems that general principles of the types of exercises would be sufficient instead a show more list of the many paths that one could take in combinations of shuffle, sprint, and back pedaling. Likewise, reaction drills can be most any action taken in combination with a starting cue. I appreciate the concepts and having example activities and suggest the book for serious athletes. show less
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. The book is written as a text book, with easy to follow instructions and diagrams. I did appreciate the ease of instructions, as well as the breakdown of the exercises. This book would be useful in a classroom/gym/sports setting. I was slightly disappointed that the manual was not geared more towards the lay person, hoping to learn how to start their training, and to build good habits before jumping right into the routines.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I have a prior edition as well . The third edition has some better pictures and other improvements. The breakdowns in the various sections as well as the size of the book make it very valuable when compared to some of the glorified pamphlets being used out there. Finally, I really like the incorporation of medicine balls.
