C+ (Okay).
Potential heirs to a fortune gather in a haunted house.
Old-timey Scooby Doo. No successful suspense or scares, underwhelming humor, and a lot of missed opportunities for spookiness. But it's short and it doesn't take itself seriously, so I'm not mad at it.

FYI The 1928 silent film starring Conrad Veidt inspired the Joker mask in the Batman comics.
A child is abandoned on a pier by some "Comprachicos." They set sail into the storm, guardians of a terrible secret; he sets sail toward his new life. The main story concerns Gwynplaine and the one who abandoned him. Dea and Ursus. Their meeting. The path that led them to meet. Everything is extremely cinematic in the intensity and expressive power. You immerse yourself in the story with fewer show more interruptions, fewer digressions. Beautiful. show less
