The author of this story wants you to know that if you ever smell a foul odor from your animal’s rear end, that you should be excited for you might be able to travel the world with your talented animal. Obviously, the aspect I enjoyed the most about this book was the humor used. When the cat’s owner exclaimed that her cat purrs from both ends, or when “Le Farte” perfumes were created in Marty’s honor, I could not help but laugh. The humor used created a very light and informal show more tone, which may not be appropriate for the classroom, but could be read as a bedtime story. The rhythmic aspect of the book kept a happy tone as well. The story flowed and rhymed which made reading fun. I also enjoyed the interjections throughout the story such as “POW” and “WHAM.” That characteristic also helped create a story that any child could have fun reading. I really enjoyed this book, mostly for the humor. The author’s unique perspective on animal’s farting helped created a funny story about farts that could make a college student laugh. show less
This book is really weird, it was all about a girl and her cat that kept farting. After Mary's cat, Marty farted, Ms. Chen figured out that Marty's "output is inspired by his meals." The cat ended up becoming famous for playing songs while farting. It was entertaining but strange. The message was that no matter how much fame or fortune, friendship was the best. Mary loved Marty the way he was from the beginning and still loved him after.
Marty is one talented cat! He is able to turn an unfortunate bodily process into a worldwide sensation with the help of his owner and her teacher. Music appreciation taken to a whole other level.
