At the turn of the millennium, the Deutsche Börse Group moved to new quarters in Frankfurt. Inspired by their blank walls, they began to assemble this world-class photography collection, enlisting Jean-Christophe Ammann, director of Frankfurt's Museum of Modern Art, as a guide. The Collection Deutsche Börse soon acquired substantial holdings of the Düsselorf School and other stars, from Bernd and Hilla Becher to Peter Fischli, David Weiss, Andreas Gursky, Candida Hofer, Thomas Ruff and show more Thomas Struth. Its holdings have since grown to more than 500 works, most of them large format, by more than 40 artists. Their subjects range from landscape and architecture to interiors, urban scenes and portraits.
