I don't know what I expected, but this wasn't it in the best way possible. Lorcan's journey to this point has been filled with twists, turns, adventure, betrayal, love, longing, mysticism, and (with Corvina) he even has a mascot! Okay, maybe she isn't a mascot, but I do love her!
Now, no one needs a book report in a book review, so I'll keep it simple:
Did I enjoy Eluzabeth Schechter's Raven's Fall? Absolutely
Do I want more? Again, Absolutely.
I need to know (slight spoilers):
What happens with show more Tavi?
What happens with his found family of gladiators?
And finally what happens when he at last makes it home?
These characters have pulled me in, and I cannot wait to see what happens next. I'm sure I'll be surprised though (in a good way!) show less

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Such a great read! This book is a mesmerizing blend of myth, history, and romance that captivates from the very first page. Set against the backdrop of ancient Rome, this novel introduces us to Lorcan, the white-feathered heir to the Raven King, whose journey from betrayal to self-discovery is both heart-wrenching and inspiring. Schechter masterfully weaves elements of Celtic mythology with the brutal realities of gladiatorial combat, creating a rich tapestry that is both fantastical and show more grounded.
The character development is exceptional. Lorcan’s transformation from a naive prince to a resilient gladiator is portrayed with depth and nuance. His relationships, especially the unexpected romantic entanglements, are handled with sensitivity and authenticity, adding layers to his character and the narrative as a whole.
Schechter’s prose is both lyrical and evocative, painting vivid images of the arenas of Rome and the mystical realms of the Raven clans. The pacing is impeccable, balancing intense action sequences with introspective moments that delve into themes of identity, destiny, and love.
Raven’s Fall is a tour de force that promises to enchant readers and leave them eagerly awaiting the next installment in the Blood of the Raven series. A definite five-star read that I highly recommend! show less

“The House of Sable Locks” by Elizabeth Schechter is an amazing book. It was way spicier than I thought it would be 5 chili peppers spicy. I loved loved loved the trauma aspect of William but still not being able to fight his urge to be dominated. The book is packed with BDSM, steampunk vibes, and Jack the Ripper-esque atmosphere. I ordered a physical copy immediately after finishing my digital copy. 5 out of 5 stars, I didn’t think I would love it as much as I did. show less

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶🌶🌶 This compelling tale masterfully weaves romance, adventure, and mythology within the historical context of ancient Rome. Lorcan's pursuit of revenge and knowledge culminates in an unexpected discovery of love. Drawing parallels with Gladiator featuring Russell Crowe, the next installment is eagerly anticipated.
