With two archeologists parents, twin sisters Maddie and Jo Livingston are used to traveling the world. Wild tropical forests or deserted plains have no secret for the young girls. But there is a place they never visited : Europe. For them, Paris is a dream that was never realized… until their parents announced to them unexpectedly that they are leaving for Siberia and that the girls have to stay in a Swiss boarding school for a year.
Twin Sisters Livingston and the Mystery at Madame show more Molineaux's is a very interesting and fun middle grade historical / cozy mystery novel. The story takes place at the beginning of the 30s. Beginning in Morocco, the story has at first an atmosphere that reminded me of Michael Curtiz’s Casablanca movie. The girls even visit a café that is reminiscent of “Rick's Café Américain”. But then the story moves to Switzerland, where the famous Madame Molineaux’s School for Girls is situated. It is an understatement to say that the school is very special. The girls find themselves living in an old castle, with schoolmates from all around Europe.
I really enjoyed this novel. It is a very fun read. Living in an old castle, the girls have plenty of things to discover and mysteries to solve, which keep the book very entertaining. With more than 400 pages, Mary Knight shares a well written and engaging novel that will be enjoyed by cozy mystery and historical novel lovers. show less
