When the members of the Justice League start acting super weird, their teen sidekicks decide to team up to save the world and their mentors.
It's a silly and fun take on the origins of the Teen Titans. I mostly can't help wondering why neither Robin nor Aqualad can have pants though?

Other reviewers were right when they said it had a Breakfast Club feel. Primarily female characters trying to navigate discovering themselves and how they fit into the world within the restrictions of high school. Engaging art.
Definitely aimed at the younger set (under 10 yrs old).
Despite having a "message" it was not terribly preachy. Would appeal to those who like stories about friendship and school in addition to those seeking stories about their favorite character. There are show more introductory books about the DC SuperHero girls which might be a better place to start for those who are not familiar with the series. show less

Teen Titans: Year One is beautifully drawn and a fun quick read. I wouldn't go in expecting anything spectacular. If anything it's kind of a fun fluffy book dealing with the origins of Teen Titans. I enjoyed this book but luckily I wasn't expecting a lot. I found that when I finished the book I felt it was too short, but still didn't really dislike it. 3/5 stars and a fun read if you like Teen Titans.
So, apparently now the DC Super Hero Girls are no longer in middle school, but, in high school. Except, not quite, because apparently in high school the 'bad guys' are villains again, and everyone has secret identities.
In this one the heroes are always late for school, and so the principal decrees that they must all join after school clubs. First they try clubs about stuff they're good at. That doesn't go well. Then they try clubs of stuff they're not good at. It works, for most, but, not show more Supergirl, she still feels out of it, an outsider.
So does Lena Luthor (who is very young in this one, and blonde). And her story was quite fun. She uses her smarts and rubber duckies too.
It was a fun read. It was a lot like the middle school version (pretty sure I've read something like the plot in the middle school one before), just with older characters.
I received this book via Netgalley thanks to DC Entertainment. show less
