Fly, Little Bird is a wordless picture book about a friendship between a little girl, dog, and bird. The pictures help you follow along easily and does a good job telling the story even without words. Students can also make up their own story of what is going on based on the pictures.
I would have to say these are some of my favorite illustrations yet. This is an all-around heartwarming story about a girl who finds a parrot and takes him for the day. They form a friendship, and when she wants to keep him around the next day, she sees him happily playing with other birds and decides that he's should be able to be free and play with them, so she lets him go. She was sad, but she knew it would make him happy, so it was okay in the end. This shows what it means to be a show more friend, what it looks like to put someone else's happiness before your own, and making the right decision even when it's tough. This is a truly adorable story! show less
summary: In this picture book, a little girl and her dog finds a little bird that can't fly. The girl, dog and bird become friends.
reflection: THIS WAS SO CUTE. Looking at the pictures to come up with the story, because there are no words, I smiled so big. I love that the bird and the girl/dog become friends and they hang out and do things together. I also was really excited to see what happened to the bird at the end. I wonder why the little bird couldn't fly at the beginning! I wonder if show more there's a sequel! show less

The only text in this book is that of the title, repeated a couple of times, thus it is a wordless picture book. It easily, through pictures, tells the story of a little girl who cares for a bird who cannot yet fly. It's a touching story, the illustrations are beautiful, and it is easily engaging to a child who cannot yet read.
