Enjoyable stories focused on the very nitty gritty of relationships with some compassionate moments and some very humorous ones. In one story a couple revisit their original honeymoon spot and through their unusual behavior and quips when teasing each other we learn how things have changed over the years in how they relate. In another story, a man struggles with returning to bachelorhood. He has trouble buying shampoo and household products and is overwhelmed buying groceries. He confesses show more how little he knows to the lady behind the meat counter. At the end he sees his ex wife walking with her new guy and is tempted to run them down.
These many stories made me laugh and recall how loving someone can be great but also filled with many challenges. It's a light-hearted book sprinkled with wisdom. I think many readers will enjoy it.

This book collects short stories about marriage, and while the title suggests that we will get both stories about misfunctioning couples and loving ones, we have more of the former than the later. Some stories were enjoyable, but the same theme and settings keeps coming back: couples mostly without children (or they are not part of the story), most of them travelling or remembering travelling in the Caribbean islands, and most of them showing some kind disturbing love for each other. In some show more of the short stories, information is inserted about various things; one of them almost transforms into a guide book for Cuba - I kept skipping these passages to stick to the story. It was difficult to stay engaged with this book and I did not read the last of the 20-ish stories yet. show less

Short stories about marriage, most of them in rough shape and in the same way, and most of them traveling to the Caribbean or something like that. 80% of the stories are the same - the woman hates the man, they travel, nothing really goes wrong, they just hate each other. It's a bummer of a story and it's repeated so many times. But there were a couple small story gems that bucked this trend that were worth reading. Just not enough, sadly.

Too dark! I thought this book was going to be funny but it was very dark. The first story about killing birds was very descriptive. Well written maybe but not what I was expecting. I put the book down for a few days and tried again. I repeated this a few times. When I got finished the story about Sonny and Phyllis I threw the book out. Too dark for me. I'm not reading any more of this.
If you are going to sell this book you should warn people about it. Cruelty to animals is too much for me!
