Food, gardening, crafts and folklore. The author started a famous herb garden and business at Caprilands - her farmhouse in Connecticut, USA. She lived at the farm from 1930 to her death in 1997 and developed the herb garden in the 1940s. Mrs Grenier Simmons was a prolific author and spoke widely for several decades. This is a twee offering but choc full of ideas and information. I have a rather low brow penchant for a certain form of twee and love Christmas books so find myself browsing show more through this little book annually. show less
Besides herbal, lots of bread, chicken, eggs, casseroles. Modern substitutions in 18th & 19th century kitchens & recipes.
