2900 a Kingdom and a Cross: St Alphonsus Liguori, by Helene Magaret (read 21 Aug 1996) This is a 1958 non-profound biography. but I rather liked it though the subject had a hard life with little earthly joy. After I finished the book I read the article on the saint in the Catholic Encyclopedia and it did a better job telling about him than did the book, but of course the book was not designed to be a learned one.
