Unlike most discussions which speak of law as the striving for justice, Cahn points out that the more potent motive for law and for that matter society is not our hope for justice, but our real experience of injustice. Injustice is the visceral reality from which spring our procedures to respond and remedy that lived reality. He makes a powerful argument for a point usually overlooked.
