I'm a huge cat lover, and prefer stories of cats or cat characters in fiction, but to my surprise, I actually enjoyed this book. Anyone who finds dog fighting (or any other kind of animal fighting) abhorrent should read this book. It is very dark and gritty at times - just like in real-life crime and dogfighting - but there's also nice character development and some positive events to temper out the negativity associated with crime. This book is a work of fiction, but research has been done show more so it's very realistic. It is true that dogfighting more often than not go hand in hand with other crimes as evinced on such TV shows as Animal Cops. I was not disappointed, and found this to be a worthwhile read. Two thumbs up! show less
