I have actually listened to this a couple of times. The last time I listened to it aside for a recently for this review was probably a couple of years ago give or take a few months.
Just the simple fact that I have taken the time to listen to an audiobook for multiple times should show more tell you that it is good. However I will tell you why it's good in my opinion.
This type of audio book is it always my cup of tea. As it is a recording of an actual play, it is also a solo performance plays.
In Harry Clarke, Billy Crudup is absolutely brilliant. The way that each line is delivered Sterling gauges you and keeps you interested in what's going on even without actually going to see the theater piece. Oddly enough this can be a bit of a thriller keeping you on the edge of your seat wondering what is he going to do next. Harry Clarke is doing his best to figure out who he is in this world in his own way while also being a bit of a con man either on accident or completely knowingly. I would say that might be a bit up to your interpretation. Harry Clarke definitely sucked me into this listen and it is very fun in my opinion. Having Lillian as an added bonus performance it's just the icing on the cake.
Lillian is also another solo performance that is included. It is similar in some aspects to Harry Clark however it is about a female who I believe is trying to figure out herself and her life. I wouldn't say that she is like a con artist or anything just a woman trying to do her best job at bumbling through life.
I like to think that Lillian and Harry Clarke are in the same universe and I think it would be awesome to have a moment where they cross paths at some point.
From some of the interviews that take place after the stories the author David Cale says that he has some ideas for a sequel to Harry Clarke and if that's the case I can't wait to be able to listen to it and honestly this got me to wanting to go see the theatrical performance.
In my opinion try not to miss out on this because it is incredibly fun to listen to even if you are new to performance arts like this and it's not usually your cup of tea you may enjoy it as I did. In particular I think I liked Lillian a little bit more.
I give this performance 5 out of 5 stars I found the story to be very brilliant and entertaining and the performances by both David Cale and Billy Crudup are just amazing.

Tour de force one-man performance of 19-character play
Review of the Audible Studios audiobook w/ "Harry Clarke" performed by Billy Crudup, "Lillian" performed by David Cale, author & director interview, and cast & audience Q&A.
This was an Audible Originals free pick for January 2019 after its initial release in January 2018. The main attraction is a recording of David Cale's "Harry Clarke" one-man play which is performed by Billy Crudup in a real tour-de-force. The play centres around show more Midwestern American Philip Brugglestein who has convinced himself that his "real" voice speaks with a British accent. He adopts the personality of Harry Clarke from London England for this and the main drama of the play is his interactions with a son, daughter and mother from a wealthy family. The recording is from the play's original run at the Vineyard Theater in NYC in 2017 and runs about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
The bonus performance is David Cale's own voicing of his one-person play "Lillian" where he is mostly telling the story from middle-aged Lillian's point of view without having to perform many character voices. This was just as entertaining even if it didn't require the multi-voices of the main act. The performance runs for 1 hour.
There are then bonus tracks. First is a 30 minute interview with writer David Cale and director (of "Harry Clarke") Leigh Silverman. Then there is a 30 minute audience Q&A recorded after a performance of "Harry Clarke" with Crudup, Clark and Silverman.
This was an excellent package to introduce the work of David Cale whose work I was otherwise unfamiliar with but who has apparently done one-man monologues for many years. show less

HARRY CLARKE WITH BONUS PERFORMANCE: LILLIAN was a satisfying listen.
The first was a one man play performed by Billy Crudup. His performance was astonishing! I felt a distinct Mr. Ripley vibe, but I cannot say anymore about that without spoilers. The energy with which this performance was given was contagious and fired me up.
The second piece, Lillian, was okay I guess, but after the energy in the first, it came off as a bit slow, but I did enjoy it.
