Timothy T. Capps’s Secretariat, part of the Thoroughbred Legends series, is a lightweight biography of the legendary Triple Crown winner. All the facts and events are included, but there are virtually no new insights or revelations. Includes 16 pages of black and white photos.
A nice, easy to read, short biography of the famous horse. In roughly three acts: first, the background, his pedigree, his parents' careers, his owners. Then his own racing career. Finally, his stud career and the highlights of his offspring.
Like the others in this series, this book tells the story of a famous American Thoroughbred race horse - except this time it's two horses. Affirmed and Alydar had a fantastic two-year rivalry which lasted through their three-year old Classic season. The book also relates the horses' fates after retiring from racing and some successes of their offspring.
