While told almost exclusively from the viewpoint of the settlers this book covers the causes, events, and aftermath of the Sioux "War" well. A good general history and single side of the story.

This is a basic book on the Dakota War. It is only about 90 pages long, and does not go into great depth. As an introduction to the Dakota Uprising, Minnesota Indian history, or Indian wars, this book suffices. One of the best things about this book is it's collection of sources. This allows greater studies.
