wow... a beautifully written book.... uneven at times but overall quite stunning. uses poetic language and imagery... had a political social stance... compelling
It took me four months to read through Gold by the Inch the first time, and when I reached the end, I immediately felt the need to start it again, because I felt like I hadn't quite grasped its arc. The narrative images in the novel are powerfully drawn and the cultural import isn't lost on me, but find myself daunted nonetheless. I'm supposed to return the book to my friend when I'm finished with it, but honestly I'm nowhere near finished yet.
