- Caroline Clive is sometimes known as Caroline Meysey-Wigley Clive or Mrs. Archer Clive. She was born Caroline Wigley in London, England. She published four novels and several collections of poetry, some of them under the pseudonym V, and contributed essays and articles to a number of magazines and newspapers. She's considered a pioneer of the "sensational" novel. Her work was celebrated in the mid-19th century, thought it's largely forgotten today except for her novel Paul Ferroll (1855).
