Sonia Mary Cole (1918–1982)

One of those read-between-the-lines biographies written perhaps too soon after his death, which doesn't quite answer the question of how Louis Leakey's 'luck' was defined, nor adequately explore what his family, co-workers, critics and coterie of admirers made of him. Nevertheless, the hints inspire further reading on East Africa, the transition of palaeontology into science and the decline of colonial power.
