An interesting snapshot of the effect of the winter campaign of 1776 - 77 on the New Jersey shore. The spelling and grammar are of the period, and the short introductory essay is a guide to the kinds of materials the historian has to navigate when trying to produce a tidy narrative. The anonymous writer was most annoyed with His Majesty's troops in particular, but the Patriots also come in for their share of criticism.
