Hardly an original premise for a rock biography, the Ballad of Jethro Tull is reasonably well done for all that.
There are some new insights into the recording and touring process of the early and mid-period albums. However, the revolving door of band members particularly in later years becomes a bit tedious.
It is mercifully lacking too many of the "amusing" anecdotes that blight many rock biographies, but it does suffer particularly badly from the uneven treatment of later albums (that show more barely receive any coverage).
Given the pivotal role of Martin Barre for so many years, his relatively small contribution is disappointing.
All in all, good enough. But only just. show less

Classic rock nonsense from the guys who did it best. It flags in places but the best parts are really good.
Light precursor to English "dark folk". Otherwise, pleasant proggy minstrelsy l that I smoked a lot of weed listening to in the late 70s.
