Excellent story line with well developed characters that are so memorable that I jumped right in after a year between the first and second book of the series. Really love the ultimate good vs evil with love painting all the shades of grey in between. The spells and plot are woven together cleverly and there was action as well as romance. I also like that the males are not stupid or in so much denial that you want to beat your head against a brick wall. Instead they are big, scary warriors show more who have soft spots for the vulnerable but powerful women they fall for. Seriously, who doesn't love a man who can knit and cook?! And the women face their demons both literally and figuratively and come out happier. Looking forward to Paimon's and Rosa's story! show less
So my first A/B/O and I have to wonder why I never got into this to begin with. This has everything I love about shifter dynamics without the skin changes. And then looking at all the recs I realise why. I love M/M as much as the next red blooded female but there can sometimes be too much so was glad I found this gem of a book for my first.

I love the whole world building, for someone who's never read this genre it was a nice mix of informing the reader of the dynamics as well as allowing show more veterans to not roll their eyes at overload of basic info that they already know.

Baby starts this book off in a skeezy Alpha bar as her designation heats up her body like a firework. Along comes a Beta with the scent of Alpha Apple Pie who helps get her out safely and to people that can help. Just learning about Omega's along with the MFC was intriguing and as she meets her Pack, a soft but gritty motorcycle gang and I'm already sold of that genre too.

Her interactions with all member's and her acceptance of relationships already established was a nice change to reading about MFC who are amazing and every other woman is a slutty skeeze ball with fake tits and sloppy war paint (sorry make up). It was refreshing. Surprisingly refreshing.

I like how the book shows the difference between an Omega in heat and then when that is over Baby was a refreshing kick ass heroine. With a realistic show of PTSD and how the story and plot wasn't so far off the base this was a nice read and one that I would recommend to anyone even if you're not into Reverse Harem, A/B/O dynamics, Motorcycle Clubs or Contemporary reads.

Just read it, yeah?

This novel certainly lives up to its unusual premise, exploring the complexities of sexbot life from a variety of different angles. It asks a lot of questions that I find really intriguing, like what it's like to have a mind that can be programmed and reprogrammed, or how you come to terms with every emotion you feel being designed for commodification. The universe constructed in this novel is full of strange and wonderful people, giving the reader the sense that there's a lot more to show more explore there. Overall, I found it quite charming.

I did have some problems. This was my first (and probably my last) why choose/reverse harem novel, so my complaints will probably sound very prosaic to why choose enjoyers, but I'll share them anyways. All five love interests have some kind of character progression. I like that the author gave them all arcs--but because there are five of them, most of them only get two or three scenes to themselves, which is not sufficient for constructing particularly depthy or complex arcs. I realize that in erotic romance character arcs aren't necessarily the point, but I really would have preferred to see the two more interesting love interests fleshed out more, instead of it feeling like they were fighting the other three for page space.

Related to the arc problem, I really like how different all of the love interests are at the beginning of the novel (it's fun that they're literally different models of android), and I like all the different dynamics they develop with the main character--so I find it disappointing how similar their dynamics with the lead became over the course of the novel. Falling in loving changes all the love interests in the same way ( their code starts glitching, they get protective and exclusive, they agree to become mates and she tattoos them), and after mating, the main character treats them all in the same way, so four of the five mostly just fade into the group by the end, providing banter in the background. It's like there's no more time for the individual characters after their arcs get resolved, which I think is a shame. However, I get the sense that this is common for why choose novels, so I won't hold it against this book too much. Overall, it's a pretty fun read.

A little backstory before my review: I was scouring the internet for some good romance books, that DIDN'T have a third-act breakup. Third act breakups SUCK in my opinion. I also have not read a lot of Omegaverse, so this is a little new for me.

Lola's character spoke to me, not only in my own experiences but how she was working towards control and staying open-minded to new opportunities coming her way. A lot of times I hate when authors focus way too much on a character's trauma and show more constantly rehash it when not needed. However, Kathryn did a great job balancing the main characters' trauma throughout the story. Instead of taking away from the romance or story, it complemented it very well.

I love meeting and learning about the characters in this story, I am hopeful to see Lola continue to heal and grow in book two. Rake is probably my favorite at the moment (not me giggling and kicking my feet whenever he is mentioned). Also huge props to Kathryn for making each member of the pack their own person with individual personalities. I've noticed sometimes in RH I feel like all the male characters are very similar to each other. Enjoyed this book!

As a reminder please read trigger warnings before reading as this book does have a few! Thank you Kathryn for an amazing read.
