Looking into attempting collage, I found this on shelves of library Reserve Stock. And it's absolutely inspiring!
Published in 1969, it does, of course, hark back to a different era (immersed me in the slightly hippyish world of my childhood, with its emphasis on free expression). And it is aimed at school art teachers, with hints for projects, techniques and child management. But although I'm 57, I still read it cover to cover and felt impelled to create. Many of the photos are b/w; some of show more the themes seem a little (charmingly) antique ( a 'beat group' at a dance hall; the 'Monkees' pop group, girls pursuing housecraft...)
The collage projects are largely glued - again, I aim to sew exclusively - but it in no way detracts from the ideas! show less
