De geschiedenis van het geld : handboek numismatiek : verzamelen van munten, penningen en bankbiljetten by Jac. G. Constant
Good to very good chapters, quite Netherlands-oriented, excellent c and b/w illustrations. Great index, very small glossary, useless list of currencies.
Producer Walter Wanger attempted to confiscate all the prints of "Pepe le Moko" when he made a Hollywood version of it in 1938's "Algiers"-but failed. The irony is that the lead actor in the American remake, Charles Boyer, turned down the role of Pepe before Gabin filled in. Author Graham Greene, film critic for The Spectator, wrote a positive review for "Pepe de Moko," claiming it was "One of the most exciting and moving films I can remember seeing. I cannot remember seeing one which has show more succeeded so admirably in raising the thriller to a poetic level." Greene later penned his screenplay "The Third Man," drawing some inspiration from the 1937 movie. "Pepe le Moko" is included in the reference book '1001 Movies To See Before You Die.' show less
