The kind of book that becomes more interesting as time marches on...
The author declares that once America entered this conflict, the outcome was pretty much a done deal owing to "America's industrial might." After years of outsourcing, the Rust Belt and the fact that items stamped Made In America have become their own collectible category, well. It gives a modern day American an uneasy feeling about one's place in this bad old world.
I do enjoy the author's descriptions of Stalin as "sly, show more treacherous and brutal,: Hitler as an unstable man who flew into raging tantrums upon hearing disagreeable news, and Mussolini as an undependable drama queen known as "Sawdust Caesar." We won the war, we get to write the history. show less

This book is obviously about the second world war and how it affected history. It also lists theories and history about how it most likely started. The author uses very reliable sources for his information about almost all aspects of the war. The author himself fought in the war which makes him a very reliable source as well. It used visuals such as maps to show locations that the book references. It shows pictures of important people, important places, examples of things the author show more references, and also some vehicles. It ends with the deaths of millions and the Germans defeated once again.
I personally really like the book because one of my favorite subjects in history is World War 2. It tells the story in a way that I very much like as well. It shows how things like how tensions just kept getting worse as time went on which kind of helps you track the reasons why the war started. I like this a lot because I always wondered what caused one of the biggest wars in history. The book is quite old so it may be a little outdated for certain pieces of evidence, this also means that the quality of the book was deteriorated, but that does not mean all copies will be worn out. The visuals like maps and photos are real photos because this book came out before things like Photoshop which lets you edit them. This makes stuff like photos of Hitler seem a lot cooler because ti is real. This book in my opinion is a very good book that I enjoyed reading. show less
