Eeyore needs a new tail.

As good as the original shorts - not quite as pure and innocent (they even force in some (not-too-obtrusive) pop culture references), but hilarious. The best movie to come out since Wall-E.

The story is a bit bland and by the numbers, and while perfectly fine, as a result this is not really in the upper echelon of Disney films in my book. The music, though, is very good and incredibly catchy, and really lifts the film from the large "decent and OK" crowd of animated film, to being among the few that stay with you and feel quite memorable. It's still not in league with Disney's best offerings, but after nearly a century of animated feature film output, that might be an show more unreasonably high bar to ask it to clear. It's better than most, it's good fun, and I've bought the soundtrack. show less
There is always some disconnect for me when a story set in some "ancient" "foreign" location uses current American tropes and idioms. However, the premise was good, the development arc satisfactory, and the production entertaining.

I like a lot of things about this movie. I was certain i'd give this 5 stars, but however something happens near the end of the film to confirm Raya's fears and suspicions. I've noticed a trend of being too lenient in some recent films. I'm all for the positive messages put in this film, but what the Fang girl did went against that. Still overall a fun film.
