For all those that are reading this review, let it be known that I know practically nothing of Boxing. Most of my knowledge is from certain manga series such as Hajime no Ippo. I never watched a Boxing match, I never tried to box, and my limited experience with martial arts makes me a sort of fanboy. With all of that being said, Fighting Fit: Boxing is probably not a book meant for me. Alan Lachica and Doug Werner combine their respective powers and expertise to describe Boxing techniques show more and exercises. With tons of photos and images cataloging the major focuses of Boxing, this book is pretty good.
The book is divided into chapters. Each chapter discusses something that you must know for Boxing. For example, the first chapter discusses equipment you might need while the final chapters get down to talking about physical fitness and exercises that you can do to improve that. Since it discusses all of those things, it also tells you about the best suppliers to use.
My only issue with this book is that it is a book. When someone is learning something that requires coordination and skill, a book just doesn’t seem adequate. You can look at all the punches you want, it doesn’t show you how to throw one. However, if you are a beginner, this is a pretty good book for that purpose. I suppose it would also depend on how you learn. If you are an advanced Boxer, I don’t know if there is enough to draw you to this book, unless you are teaching someone.
Other than that, this book is really short. Most of the book does comprise of the pictures and images that describe punches and footwork. show less

Good book on a couples adoption, told by father. These were 46 yr
olds with no children, so the story is very comical to me. I loved it
when they stopped at the beach to surf on their way to the airport. Some people have expressed a dislike for the book because the father doesn't seem to respect the Chinese very much. I thought it was more like first time parents, very self centered, with not much of a clue on a lot of things.

This is the ultimate in beginning surfing. Maybe too beginning as there was not much to it. I would have loved a book that was a little longer.
In Fighting Fit, basics are reveiwed in detail and pieced together in a drilling program that develops the complete boxer. The major skills-punches, defensive moves and footwork-are honed and correlated through heavy bag drililng, controlled partner drills and situational sparring.
Boxing skills have never been illustrated (over 450 photos) and cataloged any better, anywhere outside of the gym. It's all here for the serious student-whether you're in it for the sport or the fitness or show more both.
Alan Lachica is a certified USA Amateur Boxing coach, the former owner and operator of Cross Boxing in San Diego and a former amateur boxer-winning over 90% of his competitive bouts. His boxing exhibitions have been featured on local and national television, including Eye on America (CBS News).
Doug Werner and start-Up Sports teamed with Lachica to produce the quintessential boxing guide for people serious about increasing their boxing skill and fitness levels.
