After school in West London at Latymer Upper School, Hammersmith, Richard Martin started teaching at the age of eighteen, while waiting to take up his place at Oxford. Following a brief spell in industry after going down, he returned to his first love of teaching in eight schools, varying from a Quaker boarding school to the heights of Harrow and Highgate hills and their respective schools, before returning to his Alma Mater, Oxford, as Chaplain of Magdalen College School.
Richard started speaking aboard cruise ships during his vacations in 1969 and to date calculates he has sailed on over 150 cruises in around forty ships, ranging from converted Greek and Channel ferries to the famous 'Canberra' of P & O, Cunard's 'QE2' and the mighty 'Queen Mary 2,' as well as the ultra luxury ships of Seabourn, Silversea, Crystal and Regent. - Places of residence
