Jim Dallen is a liturgist whom I had the privilege to study under. This book examines what is often referred to as a "Eucharistic famine" in which the shortage of ordained priests in the Roman Catholic church leads to huge numbers of Catholics being excluded from the Eucharist, which is supposed to be at the very heart of the church (and which many would argue is far more central than the discipline of priestly celibacy and even the gender of the priest).
