Blah. I thought the screenplay was terribly written. It was way to long and at the end it just kind of fell apart. There was a lack of consistancy in the characters and lack of unity within the whole story line and some of the dialogue was pointless and just bad. Blah.

None of Fitzgerald's pieces was a total success when rewritten as plays. Only John Steinbeck's works were ready-made for media exchanges. (But who would place him on the same creative sphere as Faulkner, Hemingway, and Fitzgerald?) "Tender is the Night" has its moments of greatness, in particular toward the end. One distraction, however, is the failure to capture the essence of The Jazz Age and the Lost Generation expatriate ambiance the way Fitzgerald did in his novel. Anyway the bare bones show more story of the cosmopolitan Divers, focusing on Dr. Dick Diver, remains . The psychiatrist is married to Nicole, who has suffered a mental breakdown. The good doctor becomes both a husband and an analyst to his mentally unbalanced spouse. On the French Riviera just before the stock market crash of 1929, Dr. Diver, near middle age, meets and falls for a rising starlet, Rosemary Hoyt. As the plot thickens, Dr. Diver slides into a maelstrom of drunken escapades until he hits rock bottom. The story somewhat parallels Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda's own experiences, though Fitzgerald claimed it was based on friends Gerald and Sara Murphy's struggles. 1942: in Norvegia sorge uno stabilimento di notevole importanza strategica per la realizzazione, da parte dei nazisti, della bomba ad acqua pesante. La resistenza Norvegese però si adopera per realizzare un sabotaggio di quella fabbrica, che se lasciata in piedi rischia di portare i nazisti al possedimento di un'arma nucleare.
