This is a book where I want to comment about how it might appeal to a different audience than me. I found it to have a decidedly pre-teen feel to it. I think it would have appealed to my much-younger self back when I first started reading fantasy and science fiction, and I might have been looking for the sequel.

I find it difficult to explain exactly what I mean by that. Perhaps that events were uncomplicated, and facile solutions followed quickly so that drawn-out suspense was low. show more Characters' quirks were turned up to eleven while their inner depth was slight. Those aren't flaws so much as characteristics of a different target audience.

It wasn't tagged that way in the Early Reviewer listing (else I might have passed it by), but I think it will satisfy a younger audience better. show less

I'm the author of this book, so I'm cautious what to write here! I'm proud of 'Touchpaper' and of the editor, proof-reader, beta-readers and designer who helped me ready it for publication. The rating I've given it is the current Amazon rating (4.6)
