Enjoyable young-adult horror/paranormal about several different girls who each (separately, throughout the book) "borrow" a gorgeous, lacy, cream colored dress, and the misfortunes that happen to each of them after they wear the dress. I found this story pretty captivating and original with a beautiful dream dress no girl can resist...and the bad luck that happens to each girl that wears the dress. Each girl's story is interconnected to another girl in the story who borrowed the dress. A fun show more read from the 80's. show less
I read this when I was 11 (17 yrs ago) and it was the first "scary" book I read. Even then, I knew it wasn't a great book, but I loved it! I would equate it to watching bad reality tv...a total guilty pleasure...so bad it's good. If my mom hadn't sold it at a garage sale I would totally re-read it again and again.

This is a FREAKY book! Really strange. Janine almost dies in a car crash, but when she comes too she discovers a strange voice inside her head. A voice that belongs to her dead sister, Lenore. Lenore is evil and wants Janine's life/body... or does she? Is she even actually there? This is a very confusing book, and although I liked it I will never read it again because it's just so confusing and strange.
Haunted Sister was about this 15 years old girl named Janine. At a time she had a twin sister named Lenore but she died when she was only 4 years old, due to falling and drowning in a pond. Janine happens to be the “good girl” in school and is called Lenore every time she does something bad or daring. One day Janine decided to sneak out of school with her boyfriend Scott, so she could go to the beach. On the way, they happened to have gotten in a car crash and it put her in the hospital show more for a while. Between that time in the hospital, she happened to have “died” and saw her sister. She came back alive and her sister ended up coming along, but only in Janine’s head. While Janine was in the hospital for about a month, Lenore figures out how to control her. Janine finally gets out of the hospital and takes Lenore on a journey to live the real life.
In my opinion, I believe this is a great book because it has some mystery to it. When you hear Lenore talking it makes you want o read more to figure out what will end up happening next. it has some great detail to how everyone feels with the accident and shows how going through the process of an accident can be emotional.
