Doug, a former business leader, is relishing the second half of his life as a speaker, teacher, writer and business co-founder and as he benefits from the experiences of others and learns from his own foibles. In his previous life, he served as CEO of Kraft Foods Canada, Chairman/CEO of Borden Foods Corporation and Chairman/CEO of Best Brands Corporation. His specific areas of interest are leadership and organizational effectiveness, happiness and well being, and resilience in the face of setbacks. He works with organizations and individuals, focusing on emerging companies, and with CEO's who are eager to learn and enhance their leadership skills and live with greater joy and abundance. Leaders do not have to sacrifice their health for their wealth.

Doug's interest in positive psychology led him to author Happiness: The Art of Living with Peace, Confidence and Joy, which was released January 2014. Most recently he has co-authored, with Ken Murphy, Thriving the Second Half of Life, to be released in December 2020.

Doug teaches an undergraduate course at DePauw University and leads sessions at Canyon Ranch on “The Science & Skill of Happiness.” Doug speaks on both leadership and happiness at numerous conferences and organizations across the country. He donates 100% of his fees and 100% of his book profits to charitable organizations involved in cancer research, the environment or education. To date, his work and writing has raised over $1.5 million for these causes.

Most recently he is a co-founder of Positive Foundry, LLC, an organization dedicated to enabling individuals and their organizations to flourish.

Doug has a BA and an honorary doctorate from DePauw University and an MBA from Dartmouth College. He and his wife Phyllis have two grown sons and live happily in Columbus, Ohio. Should you wish to reach him you can find him at whitepinemountain.com.
