Patrick Hamilton's "Angel Street", an American stage classic, was turned into "Gaslight" in 1940. This atmospheric account about a woman being driven out of her mind has always been a favorite of classic fans all over the world because it holds the viewer/reader interested in watching the psychological drama with echoes of Gothic overtones, unfold.

A woman’s idle remark about her son has devastating consequences when she is overheard by a nazi spy. Thorold Dickinson’s eerily credible account of Fifth Column activity started life as a propaganda short, only to be expanded (at the MOI’s behest) into a feature on the dangers of careless talk. Wartime propaganda piece giving the warning "Be like Dad, Keep Mum". A gossipy housewife is overheard talking about what her son is doing by a Nazi spy. (fonte: Imdb)
