Roma Potiki

The vision of new oceania and some vignettes of this mood apparent in Roma potiki's poems. She is a performing artist and that is visible through her poems. Self awareness, self actualization and responding to the fast changing world of corporate world are the two major themes emerging as the landmark impressions.there are lone poem or two on environment awareness as well.
PAPATUANUKU- is relating self with the land and elements of nature: 'rain and rivers' and a mild regret tht the real show more identity of her self is not actualized by the "you" in her life who who 'treads' her body.she does not want to be confined int any definition for herself . she rather wants to be one with the universal self. this is very touching poem, the potential of humanbeing has immense possibilities.

KINA talks about the juxtaposition of environment protection and killing of wild life. It has allusions of over fishing in the Pacific Ocean and death of rare fish and other species of octopus.
