Although this is quite outdated now, it was still great to read in such detail about a country I've always been fascinated by and wanted to visit. I will certainly go back to the Sagas now and will continue to dream.
Really badly copy-edited, though. Rough Guides, do you need my help?!

I travelled through a small chunk of China back in about 2011, visiting Macau, Guangzhou, Hainan Island and Guilin. Those were the days when one still had to rely on the printed word to guide them in their travels and I thought "The Rough Guide to China" was a good example of a guide book. Indeed, in this online age I miss toting a guidebook or two along on my meandering journeys. Now, however, my partner scorns travel advice on paper, preferring the wonders of online travel info and AirBnB.
This whole series is really useful. I have several for specific cities & the latest one for Iceland. They are frequently updated to ensure info is current & relevant.
Includes, history, sights, currency, laws, medical , how to get around, hotels, restaurants, stores/shopping, customs and more.
They are particularly handy due to their small size so easy to carry with you & I always use the maps provided inside detailing specific city streets, location of attractions & rail/metro/bus show more routes.
They are popular with my friends & family who raid my library to plan & take trips & I can honestly say every one of them has been a great help. show less
