Memoir of 1905-06 Waterbury, Vermont. Each chapter focuses on an individual in the town. Written in late 1950's by Duffus, who was probably in his 70's at the time. So this is a valuable source of information about life over 100 years ago. The writer attempts a wry, ironic Mark Twain tone, which sometimes works, though usually not. Delightful reading. After reading I want to visit Santa Fe!!
OK book on Calif. and speculations about its future.
