This book. I mean, it's hard to say. It is stream-of-consciousness and switches gears fast and loose, but that's what makes it interesting. I definitely feel like this book isn't for everyone and some people will dismiss it as pretentious or as the rantings of a former child star, but that's what makes it work.

Clearly, Culkin borrowed from his own life, the best fiction does. But where is that line? What's fiction? What's reality? Does it matter? Not really. From letters to poetry to lists show more to short stories to memoir, this is a work of fiction that will make you self-reflective and possibly angry with yourself for the similarities you find. At least, that was my reaction. show less
This "book" was nothing more than the a self-indulgent retelling of a mediocre career from a still precocious prat. This cannot be classified as any specific type of literature...one part terrible poetry, one part uninspiring memoir, one part poorly drawn cartoons. Don't waste you time on this one.
"Junior" is really random and stream-of-consciousness but a lot of it is reflective and contemplative. I enjoy this style of writing and absolutely didn't mind it one bit. I loved bouncing around from poetry to the memoir excerpts to the short stories to the letters; it provided a good variety.
Just a jumbled mess. Very stream of conscious writing. It's supposed to be fiction but you can't help but wonder how much of the reminiscence is actually from his own life. He talks over and over about this father. There's a bit about seeing a therapist. Nonsensical lists of things; likes, dislikes; people and others. I somehow managed to read through it all but still not certain what I've read.
