Debra Merskin, Ph.D., is an associate Professor in the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon. She is also a graduate student in Depth and Ecological Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute studying trans-species psychology. Her work in feminist critical/cultural studies involves the (mis)representation and (lack of) voice of marginalized humans and other animals, particularly as related to the role of mass media and discourse in maintaining hierarchical structures.
