Count Henry of Kehlmark falls in love with Guidon Govaertz, a poor farmer’s young son.. He teaches the boy to read and write, to draw and to paint and develops a sexual relationship with him. Everyone disapproves of what is going on behind closed doors in the castle of Escal-Vigor. Guidon is attacked, the Count comes to rescue and both are killed.
