Mele wasn’t planning on going to the Halloween party, but someone’s been stealing jewelry and someone else wants her to investigate… quietly. Which would be fine, but when Mele ends up locked in a pantry, and mere theft explodes into violence, it would really help if the person who hired her was actually on her side.

Still, Mele has secret skills and secret friends, all of which becomes very pleasingly intriguing as the story continues. While this is book 6 in a series, it’s easy to show more pick up and read on its own. The timing of revelations is just right, and the enticement of learning about extra characters is fun. I should like to read more. Meanwhile I’m glad I got to follow the resolution of this murder mystery.

Disclosure: I got this on a deal and enjoyed it.

I really, really liked this book and I can't imagine waking up in a seedy motel with NO MEMORY! I liked that Haley followed her instincts and returned to Moonhaven even with her knowing anyone there, she just followed where a deed told her to see the property that she now owned. Haley never expected to be suspect number one in a murder!
This book just makes you ask questions. There is something strange going on in this town and nobody wants to talk about it. You have demons, hunters, witches, shapeshifters, etc. Of course, the book ends with a bombshell piece of info that just leaves you with your mouth hanging open. Now I am anxious to find book 2 because I just have to know what happens next.
Mele has driven up the coast to visit her Aunt Bebe after breaking up with her boyfriend and losing her job. Upon arrival she spots a male ghost (whom she's seen before in her teens) in the window of her Aunt's house and then trips over a man's body on the sidewalk. Great introduction to the mystery. Interesting Hawaiian references and secondary characters. Looking for more of this series.
