Claire Squires' Philip Pullman, Master Storyteller is good background material for those who want to know more about Pullman or His Dark Materials. However, Claire's research and analysis only touches the surface; I believe she could have gone deeper. Nevertheless, it was a quick, easy read.
Short and straightforward guide to the His Dark Materials trilogy. It talks a little about Philip Pullman and the reception of the novel, and mostly goes through some of the themes and ideas in it. There are also discussion questions. It's pretty short and not particularly in depth, but is a useful little guide.
