This is a modest size “guide” book that is in fact quite verbose. History, photos, and descriptions fill the pages of a book that is less of a guide and more of a mini history book on the St. Isaac Cathedral. If not for the detail photos, I would not have known the golden dome is ringed by angel statues that are not easily visible when viewed from the street. The current cathedral is the fourth church building to bear this name in St. Petersburg, having been built between 1818 to 1858. show more Despite the popularity of the Church of the Savior on the Spilled Blood, St. Isaac is THE active/functioning cathedral of the city, and its design is specifically meant to be marveled of its magnificence from the different angles throughout the city. show less
