5237. Looking After Minidoka, by Neil Nakadate (read 18 Jan 2015) This 2013 book is compiled by an English professor whose family lived in Portland, Oregon, until some of the family were interned in relocation camps in 1942, His mother, though born in the United Sates, was put into a camp in Idaho. His father was a doctor and was in Indiana so was not interned. He managed to get the author's mother out of the camp so he could marry her. .The author was born 1 Sept 1943 in East Chicago, show more Indiana. The history of the family is well told from the time the author's grandparents were born in Japan up to the present. The way the Japanese Americans were treated is a blot on American justice, which the U.S. Supreme Court unfortunately failed to rectify when it had a chance. See Korematsu v. United States, 323 U.S. 214 (1944) show less
