Songs are Thoughts: Poems of the Inuit is a wonderful book filled with beautiful poetry about the slowly vanishing cultures of the north. As the polar bears disappear, the traditions replaced by BET and designer jeans, even in the most remote of places, there are books like this that help remind us of what is slowly lost. The time of hunting, of sledding, of exploring the sea are remembered well within the verses of these beautiful poems. A book of poetry that could be read and enjoyed by show more the youngest of audiences and just as easily used by those in the higher grades as a glimpse into the culture of another part of this world. show less
