I find it sad that so few people on LibraryThing have read this book!

Follow the life of Ayela Linde from teenager to elderly woman through a series of short stories told from the viewpoint of members of her family and community, finally culminating in one where we hear from Ayela herself. The author successfully creates a sense of place in Ayela's town, where she is both an insider and outsider at the same time. Recommended.
