I've been reading Colin Upton's mini-comics for a few years now, and I'm glad to see one of his latest series collected into a bound volume. While Upton is pretty dedicated to the whole mini-comics aesthetic, his work deserves more exposure than he can gain through that distribution channel, and Diabetes Funnies is as good a place to start as any - it's bitter, personal, and perhaps just a bit transcendent. Autobiographical comics are hard to get right (they're most often horribly tedious) show more but Upton knows how to make the genre work, and the ability to digest one of his complete series in a single read is a great way to appreciate what he is capable of. show less
